If you choose to share a video via an icon on a website onto Tumblr, you will usually only get the link itself. If you want the video to be on your page, look for the embed tag and copy and paste the coding right into the ‘Video’ type blog post.

With an embedded video, your audience is able to watch the video directly on your page. How might this be useful to your audience? How might linking to the video page and website be useful? Consider these questions as you choose how to arrange your page.

Part C: Customization of Your Blog

On your dashboard, you will see the name of your blog (which is probably still only called...

Part B: Navigating the Dashboard

This is what your dashboard will likely look like at first. This is how you create new posts. Posts made by people you follow (as well as your own posts) appear here in what is called a “feed” organized in reverse chronological order- the oldest are at the bottom, the newest at the top. To get back to this page at any point, click on the “Dashboard” icon in the upper right hand corner of any page of Tumblr (it has a little house icon next to it).

Don’t be overwhelmed. Tumblr gets easier once you create posts. The icons will tell you what they do if you hover your mouse over each one.

Part A: Signing Up for a Tumblr Blog

In the upper right hand corner of this page, you should be able to see two buttons that say “+...

Welcome to the Tumblr Blog!

Here is an example of what a standard post on Tumblr looks like. I have created a helpful basics...
